No matter how small the mix room, you can achieve studio-quality sound — if you design it right.
SPU Mix Room x Trandar
"Can a small room really achieve true recording quality?" "Acoustic reflections are harsher in small rooms than in large ones — so how do you manage them?" "What is the real difference between a standard plain wall and a wall specifically designed for acoustics?"
The answer lies in the SPU Mix Room — a compact mix room where every single square inch is engineered for flawless sound.

📖 The Story of SPU Mix Room — When Size Is No Longer a Limitation
In the world of recording and music production, every musician and sound engineer knows that the room is the most important musical instrument.
No matter how expensive the microphone is, or how powerful the DAW is, if the recording room is not acoustically designed properly, everything becomes meaningless.
SPU needed a truly functional mix room with professional-grade quality, but within a limited space. That exact challenge marked the beginning of the most meticulous design process in this project.
🔊 The Problem with Small Rooms — The Smaller the Room, the Harder the Sound
What many people do not realize is that small rooms are much harder to acoustically design than large ones.
When space is limited, all four walls are too close to each other. Sound waves generated by musical instruments or monitor speakers hit the walls and reflect back to the listener in a fraction of a second, causing phenomena known as standing waves and flutter echo, which distort the sound heard in the room.
The result is that a mix done in that room, when played on other sound systems, feels off—with excessive bass or missing highs—because what was heard in the room was not the true sound, but sound already distorted by the room itself.
This is the problem that needed to be solved before plugging in the very first instrument.

🛠 The Sound-Engineered Solution — The Comprehensive Trandar System
The design team chose materials from Trandar for the entire system, with each component playing a clear role and working together with precision.
✅ Trandar Hitech Wall — Soundproofing walls that seal out the outside world completely.
Before talking about internal sound quality, it must be ensured that outside noise cannot enter, and that sound from rehearsals or recording inside does not leak out to disturb other areas.
HitechWall acts as a robust first acoustic barrier. With high efficiency in blocking both high and low frequencies, it turns the mix room into an enclosed space completely isolated from the outside world.
✅ Trandar Hitech Ceiling — Ceilings tasked with absorbing upward-bouncing sound.
When the walls are designed to be angled, sound reflecting off the walls is directed toward the ceiling. Hitech Ceiling must therefore possess sufficient sound absorption efficiency to terminate the journey of reflective sound at that point.
Instead of circulating further within the room, the sound is absorbed by Hitech Ceiling and dissipated, ensuring that the sound heard inside the room is the true sound from the source without interference.
✅ Trandar Series E — Surface finishes that manage sound across all frequencies.
Series E absorbs sound in the mid-frequency range, which is often problematic in small rooms, softens the overall acoustic response of the room, and helps reduce coloration caused by repetitive reflections. This ensures that the monitored sound is as flat and neutral to reality as possible.

✅ Trandar Zivana installed at a 5-degree angle — The heart of this room's design
This is the masterstroke of this project's design.
Zivana was installed on the wall with a 5-degree outward tilt from the vertical plane. While it may seem like a minor detail, that is the difference between an ordinary mix room and a professional-grade mix room.
When the walls are tilted by 5 degrees, sound waves hitting the wall are no longer reflected straight back at the listener. Instead, they are deflected upward toward the ceiling, which is already fitted with Hitech Ceiling panels to catch them. Echoes are trapped and absorbed before they can interfere with the sound engineer's ears at the mix position. Every degree of the tilt was precisely calculated to create a fully controlled acoustic path.

✨ The Result — A small room that sounds larger than life
Following complete installation, the SPU Mix Room has become a space where sound engineers can trust that what they hear from the monitors is true, undistorted sound, free from flutter echoes and standing waves that deceive the ears.
Mixes created in this room translate consistently across other playback systems because they are mixed in a space that is honest to the sound from the very beginning.
"A good mix room doesn't make sound better — it lets you hear the truth of the sound, so you can make it better yourself."
