Acoustic Design for Pubs: How to Control Music Sound to Prevent Disturbing the Community
This was the key challenge for the Baan Phuean Rangsit project, which aimed to create a space for fun and music while carefully considering the impact on the surrounding community.
Located in the bustling Rangsit area, characterized by residences and heavy traffic, the owner wanted this venue to be a gathering and live music space without causing noise pollution for neighbors or the surrounding area.
However, due to the venue's location right next to residential houses and close to the Rangsit expressway, acoustic design became a crucial priority from the very beginning.

This venue was designed to feature live music inside, which is the heart of the atmosphere and customer experience. However, live music naturally comes with high sound power.
Without proper acoustic control, various issues may arise, such as:
Music leaking to the outside
Noise disturbance to neighboring residents adjacent to the venue
Sound reflection and echo within the venue itself
Unclear music listening experience
Additionally, the area is located near the Rangsit Expressway, which experiences constant traffic noise, requiring the acoustic system to be designed to block external noise from entering the venue as well.
Therefore, the challenge of this project was not just about "keeping sound in",
but rather controlling sound both in and out while optimizing the interior acoustic quality to suit live performances.

To comprehensively resolve the acoustic issues, the team selected solutions from Trandar working in tandem across two main systems.

The Hitech wall was utilized as the primary structure to reduce noise transmission between the interior and exterior of the venue. This system helps ensure that:
Music from inside the venue does not leak out to disturb neighboring residences.
Traffic or expressway noise does not penetrate and disrupt the interior ambiance.
This allows the venue to play music and host events while maintaining positive relations with the surrounding community.

Even with good sound insulation, excessive echo or reverberation inside the venue can make live music unclear and ruin the atmosphere.
Therefore, Zivana Wall was installed as an acoustic absorption material within the space to reduce sound reflection.
After installing the Hitech Wall and Zivana Wall systems, the indoor acoustic quality improved noticeably.
The venue can now host live music and various activities as desired.
At the same time, noise is controlled to prevent any impact on neighboring homes, while also creating a better listening experience for customers.

Baan Phuean Rangsit project is another example showing that designing spaces for music and entertainment goes beyond just building a stage or a good sound system.
It also requires acoustic design to ensure sound functions appropriately within the space and coexists harmoniously with the surrounding environment.
Because good sound is not measured by volume alone.
but is about making every space coexist in perfect harmony
