If you are building a new home and want every room to be perfectly quiet, the first question you often hear from builders and contractors is, "Do we need to build thicker brick walls?"
However, building thicker brick walls means lost usable space, ballooning budgets, and longer construction timelines. For this private villa in the Sukhumvit 49 area, the homeowner wanted a smarter solution.
Project Objectives
The Sukhumvit 49 residence is a newly built two-story private residence where the owner planned every detail from the start. One of the primary requirements was comprehensive sound insulation for every room in the house, ensuring maximum privacy for each space—whether bedrooms, home offices, or relaxation areas.
A key constraint was avoiding additional interior masonry work to preserve usable space and design aesthetics. Since the perimeter structure already consisted of concrete walls, the challenge was how to enhance soundproofing across all rooms without excessively increasing wall weight and thickness.
| Selected Solution Trandar proposed the Trandar HitechWall TSIS53 and TSIS48 systems, which are dry-construction acoustic wall systems that eliminate the need for brick masonry. They operate by installing metal framing and layered acoustic materials to deliver high-performance sound isolation. For the existing perimeter concrete walls, the Trandar HitechWall TSIS53 and TSIS48 systems were installed internally to boost the STC rating, enabling the walls to achieve the required soundproofing level without touching or demolishing the original structure. For all newly built interior partition walls, the Trandar HitechWall TSIS53 and TSIS48 systems were used instead of brick masonry, allowing for faster, cleaner construction with more precise control over acoustic performance. |

The result is that every room in this house achieves a consistent level of sound insulation across both floors. Whether playing music in the upstairs bedroom, sound does not leak down to the lower floor; whether making a phone call in the home office, sound does not transmit to disturb adjacent rooms.

Why choose HitechWall instead of masonry?
Building thicker masonry walls is a long-standing method, but it comes with limitations that many overlook. Brick walls do not inherently possess sufficient sound insulation properties for private residences, as sound easily transmits through solid materials. Simply increasing thickness fails to effectively solve the problem at its root.
Trandar HitechWall TSIS53 and TSIS48 are specifically designed to solve this problem. Utilizing the Decoupling principle to prevent sound transmission through the wall structure, combined with materials featuring Damping and Absorption properties that work together, they achieve high sound insulation performance with significantly less wall thickness than traditional masonry.

Results
Sukhumvit 49 House is a clear example of how a newly built home that plans for acoustics from the very beginning yields completely different results.
Every room in the house enjoys true privacy, and the homeowner gains usable space that is not wasted by thick brick walls.
Furthermore, construction was completed on schedule without any wet work from additional bricklaying.
What this project proves is that good sound insulation is not measured by wall thickness, but by the precision of the chosen system.
