📖 Project Story — When a Musician's Dream Meets the Reality of Close-Quarter Living
Every musician knows this feeling —
The urge to practice usually hits in the evening after work, or on weekends when creativity spikes. But that is also the exact time when neighbors are resting, sleeping, or watching movies in their own homes.
The result? Many musicians are forced to choose between their dream and good neighborly relations.
The owner of this project decided that choice wasn't necessary.
🏠 A Different Challenge — Not New Construction, But a Highly Smart "Home Extension"
Building a music practice room in an already-extended house presents entirely different challenges compared to building from scratch.
The original structure of the house was not designed to contain musical sound. The walls, floors, and roof of the extension are all potential leakage points for sound to escape to neighboring houses. Moreover, the closer the proximity of homes in the community, the higher the performance required from the soundproofing system to block every escape route for the sound.
The Trandar team therefore selected two systems that work together to comprehensively solve this challenge.

Zoundboard is a soundproofing material acting as the primary mass barrier. With its density and structure designed to block sound waves traveling through walls, it specifically targets low-frequency sounds like drums and bass, which are the main culprits behind sound leakage into neighboring areas.
Zoundboard was installed within the wall structure of the extension, creating a robust acoustic barrier as the first line of defense before sound has a chance to travel further.
✅ Trandar dBphon — The Second Layer Closing Every Gap
When serious soundproofing is required, a single layer is simply not enough. That is where Trandar dBphon comes in.
dBphon acts as an acoustic membrane that enhances soundproofing performance in areas where Zoundboard might still have vulnerabilities, such as material joints, intersections between the original structure and the extension, or paths where sound waves might bypass. The collaboration between Zoundboard and dBphon creates a double-layer soundproofing system that thoroughly seals all routes of sound leakage.
