Why is a “Sport Hall” the most reverberant space?

Have you ever noticed that when you are in an Indoor Sport Hall, the sound of whistles, balls hitting the floor, coaches' commands, or even music from speakersoften echoes and reverberates within the room. When sound is produced during use, sound energy reflects back and forth between the walls and ceiling, creating reverberation within the space.

This is one of the important challenges for the Sport Hall area in the project ZIVANA at Macao

When an indoor sports arena has to accommodate a large number of sounds

The Sport Hall of this projectis designed as a space for various types of sports activities.

Throughout daily use,the area must accommodate a large number of sounds, such as:

• Sounds of sports activities
  

• Sounds of coaching or practice
  

• Announcement sounds or sounds from the sound system
  

• Sounds of users' activities within the arena
  
  

When these sounds occur simultaneously in a large space, reverberation occurs continuously,making the atmosphere inside the arena too reverberant.

The impact is that communication between coaches and players becomes unclear,and the overall user experience of the space may not be as comfortable as it should be.

Solution: Using an Acoustic Wall System

To control reverberation within the Sport Hall, ZIVANA Wall System was chosen. This is an acoustic wall system designed tohelp absorb sound reflections in large spaces.

ZIVANA panels are made from natural European pine wood fibers mixed with white cement (Wood Wool Panel), which has an open fiber structure. This material property helpssound energy hitting the wall to be absorbedinstead of reflecting back into the space.

The result is:
Reduced reverberation within the arena, improved communication, and clearer sounds within the space.

Good Acoustics Make Sports Arenas Better to Use

After installing the ZIVANA Wall System, the atmosphere of the Sport Hall changed significantly. Communication between coaches and players became clearer. Sounds of activities within the arena no longer reflected back to disturb the overall space, allowing training, competitions, and various activities to proceed much more smoothly.

When designing a sports arena, "sound" must be considered

The ZIVANA at Macao project is another example of indoor sports facility designthat prioritizes Acoustic Design. Because in large spaces with continuous movement and activities, controlling reverberationis a crucial element that helps the space function at its full potential.

Through the use of solutions like ZIVANA Wall System which helps the sports arena not only meet functional requirementsbut also create a good atmosphere for players, coaches, and all users within the space.
