📖 The Story of Studio Chaeng Watthana — When the equipment is good but the room is not ready

In the world of music production and sound engineering, musicians and sound engineers know that the room is the most important instrument. No matter how expensive the microphone, no matter how powerful the DAW, if the room used for work is not acoustically designed correctly, everything is meaningless.

Studio Chaeng Watthana is a recording and mixing studio with complete equipment, including high-quality microphones, audio interfaces, and functional DAWs. But the problem the studio owner faces every day is not with those pieces of equipment.

The problem is the room.

Both rooms, the recording room and the mixing room, had acoustic problems that were unknowingly destroying the quality of their work. That was the starting point when our team received this challenge.



    




🔊 Problems hidden in every Session

When the team inspected both rooms, they found common problems in studios that had not yet been acoustically treated.

The recording room had a high Reverb Time in the Mid-High range, causing vocals and instruments to have unwanted tails. Every time they recorded, singers or musicians heard their own echoes circulating in the room, making it difficult to decide if the take was good enough.

The mixing room, on the other hand, had a more serious problem: Bass Buildup in the corners, causing the Low Frequency sound in the room to swell abnormally. When a Sound Engineer sat down to mix a song, what their ears heard was not the true sound from the speakers, but sound distorted by the room. The result was that mixes created in this room would have abnormally heavy or light bass when played on other sound systems, because the mixing decisions were made on a faulty foundation from the start.




🛠 The Solution We Chose — Targeted, Right Room, Right Problem

After analyzing all the data, we proposed using Trandar products, specifically designed for acoustic applications, by clearly dividing the solutions according to the characteristics of each room.


    



✅ Trandar Afibus White — Controlling Reflection in every area

Afibus was installed in both rooms to directly manage Mid and High-Frequency reflections. This material absorbs sound hitting walls and ceilings before those reflections can interfere with both the recorder and the mixer. With the chosen white color, the room still looks clean and professional.


✅ Trandar dBphon — Directly addressing Bass in room corners

This was the main solution for the mixing room. dBphon acts as a Bass Trap that effectively absorbs low-frequency sounds that tend to accumulate in room corners. When Bass Buildup is reduced, the sound in the mixing room begins to reflect reality more accurately. Sound Engineers can trust what their ears hear, and every mixing decision becomes significantly more precise.

All installations were designed with positions corresponding to the actual measurements taken in each room, not just for aesthetics, but installed at points that yield the maximum acoustic results.



    


    




🎧 Results — When the ears can trust the room again

After installation was completed in both rooms, the Studio Chaeng Watthana team retested and found that the acoustic values met the desired targets, with reduced Reverb Time in the recording room and significantly eliminated Bass in the corners of the mixing room.

But the most important thing wasn't the numbers — it was the feeling of the people working in that room.

When a Sound Engineer can mix songs and "trust" what their ears hear, it means that the work produced from this room will deliver accurate sound to listeners across all sound systems, whether it's headphones, car speakers, or cinema sound systems.
