Grand Monaco Bangna

Why do houses with glass need sound design? The answer is in this project.

Why do beautiful glass rooms echo?

Many homes designed with open spaces, using a lot of glass and steel structures, often unknowingly face the same problem: echoes and reverberation within the room, making conversations, listening to music, or relaxing less comfortable than they should be.

This problem frequently occurs in spaces with glass, hard surfaces, and high ceilings because these materials reflect almost all sound, causing sound to reverberate continuously within the room.

The Grand Monaco Bangna project is one example of a space that seriously needed to solve sound-related problems.

Project Information

Project Name: Grand Monaco Bangna

Location: Grand Monaco Bangna

Owner: Christian Algot Enevoldsen

Designer: ......

Interior Contractor: SPN Service & Construction Co., Ltd.

Project Concept: Desired a recreation room that could be used without echo or reverberation inside.

Products Used: Trandar FocusF

The Origin of the Problem: A beautiful living room, but too much echo.

The homeowner expanded the reception area into a living room to be used as a space for family relaxation and activities.

This new area was designed to be airy, open, and modern, utilizing:

  • Mainly steel structures

  • Surrounding glass walls

  • High-pitched gable roof

Although the design is beautiful and allows for good natural light, the nature of these materials clearly created echo and reverberation problems within the room.

The result was:

  • Conversations echoed back and forth

  • The atmosphere in the room was not peaceful

  • Using the space for relaxation or entertaining guests was not as comfortable as it should be

This is a very common problem in glass rooms or rooms with steel structures.

Solution Approach: Designing an acoustic system for the space

The team analyzed the characteristics of the space and found that the ceiling along the gable of the roof was the most suitable position for installing sound-absorbing materials to help reduce sound reflections within the room.

The chosen solution was:

Trandar FocusF

which is an acoustic ceiling designed to help absorb sound and reduce echoes within the area.

Trandar FocusF ceilings were installed along the gable of the roof to help control sound reflections in rooms with high ceilings.

After installation, the results were:

  • Significantly reduced echoes within the room

  • The atmosphere in the living room became quieter and more comfortable

  • Conversations became clearer

  • The space can be truly utilized as designed.

Another Aspect of Importance: Family Space Safety

Since this area is used as a family living room with children using it, the selected materials had to prioritize hygiene and safety.

Trandar FocusF ceilings have user-friendly hygiene properties, helping to create a safe environment within the home, suitable for all family members, including young children.

From an Echoing Glass Room to a Perfect Relaxation Space

The Grand Monaco Bangna project demonstrates that
beautiful space design alone may not be enough if the sound quality within the space is not considered.

Integrating Acoustic Design from the problem-solving stage transformed the previously echoing space into a quiet, comfortable, and functional living room.

And this is another example of how Trandar's solutions can elevate the quality of living spaces through sound design tailored for real-world use.
