“How realistic is it to design a '3D curved' acoustic ceiling... while maintaining good sound quality?”

In premium commercial space design, especially zones that need to accommodate both "experience" and "practical use" simultaneously.

The challenge is no longer just aesthetics, but also includes the sound quality within the space. This is the starting point of the project King Power One Bangkok – THE SQUARE Zone

The Origin of the Challenge: When "3D Curved Design" is More Than Just Aesthetics

THE SQUARE area is designed as an activity and entertainment zone within King Power Shopping Mall which must feature both architectural prominence and accommodate a large number of users for practical use.

The challenge of this project is

The ceiling is not a typical flat surface, but is designed with "continuous curves in all directions" in a 3D form. Each section of the ceiling resembles a "hat" that curves continuously along the entire length, creating a fluid and continuous spatial dimension.

At the same time,

this type of space is prone to "reverberation and echo," especially in semi-enclosed areas with diverse uses.



    




The Challenge: Complex Design, Sound Control Required

The design team required materials that could fulfill all aspects:

  • Accommodate complex 3D curved shapes
  • Provide a smooth, seamless finish
  • And also help absorb sound within the space

which conventional ceiling materials could not meet.


Solution Approach: Seamless That "Goes Beyond Just Smoothness"

Trandar thus oversaw the project from the design process to actual installation with the Seamless Acoustics Ultrafine system. This material was developed to meet high-level design requirementsdemanding both surface smoothness and acoustic performance.

This is a crucial point that makes Seamless Ultrafine different from conventional ceilings because it can provide both "design-level smoothness" and "engineering-level acoustic performance" simultaneously.
