Why is a “dining room” an area where echoes are easier than you think?

          Have you ever noticed that in a large dining room, even if it's not very loud, the atmosphere inside feels muffled and makes conversation difficult? The main reason is often not just the number of people, but rather sound reflections within the space. When a dining room has hard surfaces for its floor, walls, or ceiling, speech, the clatter of dishes, or other activities within the space will reflect back and forth between different surfaces.

As sound reflections accumulate, it creates reverberation, making the dining room atmosphere chaotic and conversations less comfortable than they should be.

This is one of the challenges for the dining area in the KBank Bangpakong project.

When the dining area needs acoustic comfort

The dining area in this building is designed to accommodate a large number of users at any given time. When used simultaneously, conversations, the clatter of dishes, and other activities within the space can easily echo back and forth within the room. To create a more comfortable usage atmosphere, Trandar FocusF acoustic ceilings were chosen.

Trandar FocusF is an acoustic ceiling system designed to help absorb sound reflections within the room. The structure of the ceiling panels helps reduce sound energy hitting the surfaces, thereby reducing sound reflections within the space.
