Residential Design Concept Driven by Acoustics

Designing a Home Theater and Music Room in the basement area of a residence requires "sound control" as its core focus. This involves both preventing noise from disturbing the living areas above and ensuring realistic, clear, and echo-free sound quality within the room.

Sound Isolation – Sound Isolation from Building Structure

The basement area was chosen as the location for the Home Theater and Music Room due to its good potential for sound control. However, to enhance soundproofing efficiency,

the design opted for Trandar Hitech Wall TSIS71 installed together with the building's existing brick walls, to enhance sound insulation performance, reducing sound transmission from high-volume activities such as movie sounds and music practice, to other areas of the house.

Sound Absorption & Room Acoustics – Internal Sound Quality Control

In addition to soundproofing, controlling sound within the room is another crucial element of the design concept for the Home Theater and Music Room.

Therefore, Trandar Focus F Ceiling was chosen to absorb ceiling echoes, reduce Reverberation Time, and help achieve clear sound, suitable for watching movies and listening to music.

For the Music Room, the Trandar Zivana Wall system was enhanced,

with one wall designed to be tilted at approximately a 5-degree angle to break up parallel sound reflections, reducing echo and standing wave problems commonly found in typical rectangular rooms. This concept helps create natural, balanced sound within the room and is ideal for music practice and detailed listening.

Design Integration – When Acoustics Become Part of the Design

This project's design concept focuses on seamlessly integrating acoustic systems with architectural work. It's not merely about installing materials to solve sound problems, but about using shapes, wall details, and ceiling systems as part of the area's design language.
