Reverberant Office? What Kind of Ceiling Should Be Used?

When office spaces have high ceilings, hard surfaces, or large open areas, speech and work sounds will reflect back and forth within the room, creating reverberation and echo, making meetings or internal team communication more difficult.

When an office needs both “Design” and “Sound Control”

The office space for the EEC project was designed to be open and modern, with an open ceiling. This design style makes the space look modern and provides architectural dimension, but at the same time, it can easily cause sound reflections within the area.

Because without a closed ceiling, sounds generated in the room reflect up to the overhead structure and scatter back down into the space. Therefore, the project required a solution that could:

• Reduce reverberation within the office
  

• Maintain the openness of the ceiling

  Solution Approach: Baffle Acoustic Ceiling

  To solve this problem, Trandar ZIVANA was chosen and installed as a Baffle Ceiling.

  A baffle involves installing acoustic panels vertically in a row on the ceiling, while still allowing the overhead structure and systems to be visible.

  The advantages of this type of installation are:

    Trandar ZIVANA: Acoustic Material that Blends Design and Performance

    Trandar ZIVANA is a Wood Wool Panel type acoustic board made from wood fibers mixed with high-quality cement. The open wood fiber structure allows the material to effectively absorb sound reflections within the room.

    At the same time, the wood fiber surface creates a unique texture, making the ceiling appear more dimensional and natural.
