Bangkok Prep Auditorium

Why do Auditoriums echo easily?

And how to solve echo problems in large spaces?

This is one of the challenges of the project Bangkok Prep Auditorium within Bangkok Prep International School which aims to improve the sound quality within the space to suit actual use.

Project Information

Project Name: Bangkok Prep Auditorium

Location: Bangkok Prep International School

Owner: Bangkok Prep International School

Concept: Reduce echo and reverberation within the space

Solutions Used:

  • FocusF Acoustic Ceiling

  • ZIVANA Wall System Acoustic Panels

The Origin of the Challenge: When Large Spaces Increase Reverberation

Auditoriums often feature large spaces, high ceilings, and many hard surfaces like walls, ceilings, or floors.

These surfaces can cause sound waves to reflect back and forth in the room, leading to problems such as:

  • Speech from the stage is unclear

  • Musical sounds overlap due to reflection

  • Echoes within the room interfere with listening

For schools that use this space for various activities, these issues can affect the quality of communication and the audience's experience within the room.

Solution Approach: Design a sound-absorbing system for both walls and ceiling

To control echoes within the auditorium, the team designed the installation of sound-absorbing materials in key areas of the space.

The solutions chosen for this project include:

FocusF Acoustic Ceiling

The FocusF acoustic ceiling system was installed on the ceiling of the area to help reduce sound reflections from the upper part of the room.

The installation of acoustic ceilings helps to:

  • Reduce sound reflections from the ceiling

  • Reduce the spread of echoes in the area

  • Make speech or music clearer

ZIVANA Wall System Acoustic Panels

In addition to the ceiling, the walls of the space are another critical point that causes sound reflection. Therefore, the ZIVANA Wall System was installed on the auditorium walls to help absorb sound waves reflected within the room.

This system helps to:

  • Reduce sound reflections from the walls

  • Control echoes within the space

  • Improve sound distribution balance in the room

Result: Improved sound quality in the performance space

After installing the FocusF Acoustic Ceiling system together with the ZIVANA Wall System,

the sound quality inside the Bangkok Prep Auditorium has noticeably changed.

  • Echoes within the room have decreased

  • Speech from the stage is clearer

  • Music is balanced and does not overlap with reflections

These improvements allow the space to support performances, meetings, and school activities more effectively.

The Bangkok Prep Auditorium project demonstrates that in large spaces accommodating many spectators,

acoustic design is not just an auxiliary component, but a crucial part that ensures every performance and communication is clear.
