If acoustics are already in place but there's still reverberation, how should the problem be solved?

This was the challenge for the Bangkok Pattana International School project, which aimed to improve the sound quality within the area to make its use clearer and more comfortable for the ears.

The Root of the Problem: When Existing Acoustics Are “Not Enough”

Within this international school's area, some acoustic materials were already installed. However, during daily use, whether for activities, classes, or student gatherings,

The problems encountered were:

• Reverberation within the area was still quite high.
  

• Speech or activity sounds dispersed and echoed back in the room.
  

• The sound environment within the area was not comfortable for use.
  
  

Even with existing acoustic materials, if the placement or quantity of materials is inappropriate, the effectiveness of sound control may still be insufficient.

Solution Approach: Adding Sound Absorbing Panels in the Correct Positions

To solve the reverberation problem in the area, the Trandar team first analyzed the sound conditions of the space and performed an Acoustic Simulation to determine the appropriate amount of acoustic material to add for optimal results.

The analysis revealed that
by simply adding approximately 30% more sound-absorbing material to the total area, reverberation could be effectively reduced.

The chosen solution is Trandar Solo

One of the crucial aspects of acoustic work is that installing sound-absorbing materials cannot be done randomly or based on intuition.

If too much is installed, the sound within the area might become too dead; but if too little is installed, it may not effectively reduce reverberation.

Therefore, before installation, the Trandar team performed an Acoustic Simulation to determine the optimal quantity and placement of sound-absorbing panels.
