Ballet Studio @ K Village

Does a dance studio need soundproofing?

When the dance learning space is located in the middle of an avenue full of surrounding noise.

In vibrant places like avenues or lifestyle communities, sound is part of the atmosphere, whether it's the sound of people, shops, or various activities happening throughout the day. But for dance studios, especially for learning ballet, rumba, or other dance styles, one thing that is as important as mirror floors or large mirrors in the practice room is the quality of sound within the space.

This is one of the challenges for the Ballet Studio @ K Village project on Rama 4 Road, which aims to create a fully functional dance studio, even amidst a noisy environment.

Project Information

Project Name: Ballet Studio @ K Village
Location: K Village Rama 4
Solution Used: Trandar Hitech Wall

The Starting Point of the Challenge: When a Dance Studio is Located in the Middle of a Lifestyle Area

K Village is an avenue with various shops, restaurants, and activities happening throughout the day. This means the surrounding area is always active and noisy.

For a dance studio that requires music, rhythm, and the concentration of its students, the sound atmosphere within the room is crucial. Without proper sound design, problems may arise, such as:

  • External noise disturbing the lessons

  • Music from inside the studio leaking out to adjacent areas

  • Lack of privacy for practice sessions

For spaces that require continuous rhythm and concentration in movement, these problems can directly affect the experience of both instructors and students.

Solution Approach: Soundproof Wall System for Activity Areas

To ensure the studio can be used to its full potential, the team chose to use the Trandar Hitech Wall system for designing the studio's interior walls.

The Hitech Wall system was developed to help control sound transmission between spaces. The wall structure is designed as a multi-layered system that reduces the travel of sound waves.

Key features of this wall system include:

  • Helps reduce noise disturbance from outside the building

  • Reduces the transmission of music to surrounding areas

  • Helps create a more balanced sound atmosphere inside the studio

With this system, the practice area can maintain an appropriate atmosphere for dance lessons, whether it's ballet practice, rumba rehearsals, or other dance activities.

When the unexpected happened: Post-earthquake inspection

After the recent "earthquake incident," the studio owner was concerned about the safety of the internal structure, including the installed soundproof wall system.

The Trandar team therefore re-inspected the condition of the wall system inside the studio.

The inspection revealed that
"The wall system structure remains strong and functional as usual, with no damage affecting the safety of the area."

This inspection helped reassure the owner and users that the space remains ready for safe learning and practice.

A good dance space needs both rhythm and sound tranquility.

The Ballet Studio @ K Village project demonstrates that designing a dance studio is not just about space, mirrors, or practice floors. However, controlling the sound within the room is another crucial element that helps ensure quality learning and practice.

With the Trandar HitechWall system, this studio can create a suitable space for movement to the rhythm of music, even amidst a noisy urban environment.

Because sometimes,
a space for the art of movement must begin with designing "the perfect silence."
