Designing a Home Theater and Music Room in a residential basement requires prioritizing "sound control" as the core objective. This involves preventing noise from escaping into the living areas above while creating high-fidelity, clear indoor acoustics free from unwanted echoes.

Sound Isolation – Structural Acoustic Separation

The basement is chosen as the location for the Home Theater and Music Room due to its strong potential for acoustic control. However, to maximize soundproofing performance,

the design incorporates Trandar Hitech Wall TSIS71 installed alongside the existing masonry walls. This reinforces sound insulation performance, reducing the transmission of high-decibel activities such as movie audio and music practice to other living spaces in the house.

Sound Absorption & Room Acoustics – Indoor Sound Quality Control

Beyond sound insulation, indoor acoustic control is another key element of the design concept for Home Theater and Music Rooms.

Therefore, they chose Trandar Series F Ceiling to absorb reflected sound from the ceiling, reduce the Reverberation Time, and enhance sound clarity, making it ideal for movie watching and music listening.

For the Music Room, the Trandar Zivana Wall system was added

which is designed with one wall angled at approximately 5 degrees to break up parallel reflection paths, reducing echo and standing wave issues commonly found in standard rectangular rooms. This concept helps create a natural, balanced sound environment inside the room, making it perfect for music practice and critical listening.

Design Integration – When Acoustics Become Part of the Design

The design concept of this project focuses on seamlessly integrating acoustic systems with architectural design. It is not merely about installing materials to solve noise issues, but rather utilizing forms, wall details, and ceiling systems as an integral part of the space's design language.
