School Auditorium is Noisy Every Time It Rains

Imagine a day when the school is hosting an important ceremony, the principal is giving an opening speech on stage, and it starts to rain. The sound heard in the auditorium at that second is not the MC's voice, but the deafening roar of rain pounding on the metal sheet roof, making it impossible for everyone in the room to understand each other. This is the reality that the new auditorium of Phrasar School has to face every time the weather changes.

Project Challenge

The new auditorium of Phrasar School was designed to accommodate a wide variety of activities, including sports competitions, general meetings, and various ceremonies. Therefore, this space must be ready for use at all times, regardless of the weather conditions.

However, the chosen metal sheet roof became a major vulnerability because metal is a material that easily receives and transmits external noise. Whether it is the sound of rain, strong gusts of wind, or even passing airplanes, all can easily penetrate inside, making it very difficult to use the auditorium during times of external noise disturbance.

The challenge was clearly to find a system that could effectively block external noise by installing it at the ceiling under the roof without affecting the existing completed structure.

Solution Proposed by Trandar

Trandar offers the Trandar HitechCeiling system, an acoustic ceiling system specifically designed to block external noise transmitted through the roof. This system works by creating a sound-insulating layer beneath the metal sheet roof using the Decoupling principle, which cuts off vibration between the roof structure and the ceiling, combined with materials that both absorb and block sound simultaneously.

The result is that the previously deafening sound of rain in the auditorium has been noticeably attenuated. The same goes for passing airplanes and other external environmental noise—all without needing to dismantle or alter the existing roof structure in any way.

Results

The Phrasrisarn School auditorium has become a fully functional space for every intended purpose. No matter how heavy the rain is, sports competitions can go on, general meetings are not interrupted, and important school ceremonies proceed smoothly without external noise ruining the atmosphere.

This project reflects that metal sheet roofs and great functionality are not mutually exclusive, as long as the right acoustic ceiling system is installed underneath.
