Bangkok Prep Auditorium

Why do auditoriums easily echo?

And how to solve reverberation issues in large spaces

This is one of the key challenges for the Bangkok Prep Auditorium project inside Bangkok Prep International School, where the acoustic quality needed to be enhanced to suit actual usage requirements.

Project Details

Project Name: Bangkok Prep Auditorium

Location: Bangkok Prep International School

Owner: Bangkok Prep International School

Concept: Reducing echoes and reverberation within the space

Solutions Used:

  • SeriesF Acoustic Ceiling

  • ZIVANA Wall System Acoustic Panels

The Challenge: When Large Spaces Amplify Echoes

Auditoriums are typically large spaces featuring high ceilings and multiple hard surfaces, such as walls, ceilings, and floors.

These surfaces cause sound waves to bounce back and forth across the room, leading to issues such as:

  • Speech from the stage is unclear and difficult to understand

  • Overlapping sound reflections from musical performances

  • Excessive room reverberation that interferes with listening

For schools utilizing these spaces to host various activities, these acoustic problems can significantly impact communication quality and the audience's overall experience.

Solution Approach: Design of comprehensive wall and ceiling acoustic absorption systems

To control echo and reverberation within the auditorium, the team designed the installation of acoustic absorption materials in key areas of the space.

The solutions chosen for this project include

SeriesF Acoustic Ceiling

The SeriesF acoustic ceiling system was installed on the ceiling of the space to help reduce sound reflection from the upper part of the room.

Installing acoustic ceilings helps to

  • Reduce sound reflection from the ceiling

  • Minimize the spread of flutter echo in the area

  • Enhance clarity for speech and music

ZIVANA Wall System Acoustic Panels

Aside from the ceiling, the walls are another major contributor to sound reflection. Therefore, the ZIVANA Wall System was installed on the auditorium walls to help absorb sound waves bouncing around the room.

This system helps to

  • Reduce wall sound reflections

  • Control reverberation within the space

  • Help achieve a more balanced sound distribution in the room

Result: A space for performances with enhanced acoustic quality

After installing the FocusF acoustic ceiling system combined with the ZIVANA Wall System

The acoustic quality inside the Bangkok Prep Auditorium has noticeably improved

  • Reduced indoor reverberation

  • Greater speech clarity from the stage

  • Balanced musical acoustics without overlapping echoes

These improvements allow the space to effectively support performances, meetings, and school activities alike

The Bangkok Prep Auditorium project demonstrates that in large spaces accommodating large audiences,

acoustic design is not merely a supplementary element, but a crucial part that ensures every performance and communication is delivered with absolute clarity.
