Wondering what NRC-SAC values are?

Today, we're going to clarify what NRC is and how it relates to sound. NRC stands for

Noise Reduction Coefficient, which is a numerical value indicating the sound absorption capabilityof a material.

which is the average of SAC itself. Normally, SAC values are measured at 250, 500, 1,000, 2,000 Hz.

Generally, an NRC value must be greater than 0.40 to be considered a sound-absorbing material, also known as

Acoustic. If converted to percentage, NRC values range from 0 - 100%, for example, an NRC of 0.9 means a soundabsorption value = 90%.

SAC, or Sound Absorption Coefficient, refers to the proportion of sound energy that is absorbed

when it strikes an insulated wall or other objects, and is compared to the original sound

source. For example, if an insulation has an SAC of 0.90, or 90%, it means 90% of the incident sound will be absorbed, and the remaining

5% will be reflected. This value varies with the frequency of the incident sound.

Therefore, sound absorption can be measured at various frequencies, such as 50, 100, 250, 500, 1,000 Hz, etc.

These frequencies are within the mid-range of sound.
